Powell, Thomas star in Old Harbour’s four-wicket win

Star performances from Ranjay Thomas and Tavar Powell steered Old Harbour High to a four-wicket win over Tacius Golding High in the ISSA Grace Headley Cup yesterday.

Batting first on a very good Port Esquivel pitch, Tacius Golding were bowled out for 87 with 13-year-old Thomas bagging 7-23, while Powell (2-16) and Jhamario Lewis (1-22) claiming the other wickets.

In response, Old Harbour High raced to 90 for six in 16 overs, with Powell top-scoring with 55 from 39 balls.

Tacius Golding’s talismanic all-rounder Jemoy Cummings, who had recorded a topscore of 29 runs with the bat, returned best figures of 4-36 in the Zone D encounter.

Elsewhere in Zone D, Port Antonio High (161-4) defeated Titchfield High (159 all out) by six wickets at Carder Park, while hosts Charlemont High (86 all out) were thrashed by Dinthill Technical (90-1), as the visitors won by nine wickets.

In the next round of matches in the zone scheduled for February 7, Old Harbour travels to Content Gardens where they’ll play Tacky High; Titchfield hosts Charlemont, while Dinthill entertains Tacius Golding.

All matches begin at 10:00 am.
