Grunting, uprooted lawns, damaged fruit trees and burst pipes have become growing concerns for residents in phase seven of New Harbour Village II.

Community member Angela White says pigs have been invading the gated community over a month ago, leaving multiple properties damaged and frustration among the residents.

Community members, she said, have been unable to determine how and where the pigs gained access to the housing scheme nor do they know whom they belong to.

However, a resident, who is a non-executive member the NHV2 Citizens Association, informed Old Harbour News at the stray pigs have been using the drain to enter the community.

The member, who wished not to be named, also reported to our news team that  a section of the fence would have been cut open by persons located at the back of the community to cultivate cash crops, creating another entry point for the animals.

In an effort to address the issue, members of the executive had reportedly put in place precautionary measures, such as putting steel bars in the drain and repairing the damage section of the fence.

But on Wednesday, August 19, community members spotted the pigs once again roaming freely in the community. Residents remain concerned about the damage and the next steps to be taken to resolve the issue.
