This year’s event was held under the theme ‘Increasing Access to Healthcare Services’ and hosted on the grounds of the Old Harbour Bay Primary School.

Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton lauded the efforts of JEP and its partners, describing it as a “one-stop shop” for health and wellness. The minister also discussed the importance of applying preventative health measures, which includes eating right, exercising and getting regular general medical checks.

Of important note this year is the merging of the JEP’s back-to-school treat with the health fair.

During the treat, which made the fair extra special this year, over 200 school bags were presented by JEP CSR representatives, to students within the community.

A total of 611 services were delivered which covers a wide range of medical examinations such as STI tests, pap smear, breast examinations, teeth cleaning and extractions, blood pressure, cholesterol and BMI tests.

Other services facilitated were financial advice, drug abuse, passport, National Youth Service and the Registrar General Department (RGD).

“JEP celebrates five years of improving the health and sustainability of the community by ensuring that adults and children receive quality medical care at no cost to them,” said the company.
Hundreds of persons from in and even outside the community converged on the venue to capitalise on the free service.

The ability to access so many different services in the same space is a major plus for citizens that the majority simply cannot afford to pay for under normal conditions.
