Weather experts say this is due to a cold front sweep across the country going into the new year.

Persons on the island should expect cool and windy conditions with some amount to rainfall in some areas, stated Glenroy Brown of Weather Jamaica on X, formerly Twitter.

“Brace yourself for that cozy sweater weather, as temperatures might drop 2 to 3°C below the usual,” Brown wrote.

The forecast means upcoming nights will be cooler than usual with gusty winds from the northeast, said meteorologist Brian Shields on his Mr Weatherman YouTube channel.

“The nights will be cooler in Jamaica, Belize, The Cayman Islands and Haiti,” said Shields.

In its latest bulletin, the island’s Met Service said persons should expect isolated showers over northern and southwestern parishes this morning.

However, in the afternoon going into the evening there is likely to be showers and thunderstorms in most parishes, while conditions will be “cool and windy” mainly in northern parishes.

Northern parishes will begin to field the impact of the cold front from Saturday with nighttime temperatures for Kingston and Montego likely to fall below 23°C.

Cooler towns such as Mandeville, Linstead could see temperatures dropping to the mid-teens.
