A fatal police shooting occurred along Bodles main road in Old Harbour on Wednesday night after an armed suspect allegedly opened fire on law enforcement officers during a routine traffic stop.

According to police reports, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a team of officers signaled a silver Toyota Belta motor car to stop. The driver complied before fleeing on foot, escaping into nearby bushes. However, the front-seat passenger, later identified as Jordan Kennedy, allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at the officers.

The police returned fire in self-defense, striking Kennedy multiple times. He was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators recovered a Glock 9mm pistol with serial number visible intact and three live rounds from the deceased. Forensic teams processed the scene, collecting 35 spent casings, damaged bullets, blood samples, and DNA swabs for further analysis.

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the incident. The recovered firearm and officers' service weapons have been sent for ballistic testing.

Kennedy’s body has been transferred to Archer’s Funeral Home pending a postmortem, while the suspect vehicle was towed to the Old Harbour Police Station.

Authorities continue to search for the escaped driver. Updates will follow as investigations progress.
