Shane Ridge otherwise called ‘Cha Cha’ and Andrew Rowe also known as ‘Arthur’ were sentenced in the Gun Court by Justice Carol Lawrence-Beswick for killing Kevon Somers.

Both were found guilty of murdering Somers by a seven-member panel of jurors in July, after the crown led evidence against them.

Ridge and Rowe must serve 20 and 17 years respectively incarceration before being eligible for parole. Both men are in their 30s.

The court heard that in April 2009 Ridge and Somers had a dispute which turned deadly in the Smith Avenue community where they are all from. Evidence presented state that Somers was at a premises one night when he was approached and shot several times by Ridge and Rowe who then fled the scene on foot. Somers died on the spot.

The prosecution was also able to convince the court to accept into evidence an official statement from another eye witness, who fell ill and died years later.

Following the shooting both men went into hiding, but months later were nabbed by detectives. They were then placed before an identification parade where they were positively pointed out by a witness, the court also heard.

Throughout the trial both men said, through their attorneys, they were not guilty of the crime levied against them.
