By daybreak a large crowd had gathered in the often troubled lane after several gunshots rang out about 5:00 am.

Two men were later picked up in the community by the police, which caused a massive pile up in traffic. They were arrested and taken into custody after a man filed a complaint at the police station that he was the target of a gun attack said morning.

Following a question and answer session the accused men – 23-year-old Jevon James otherwise called ‘Rum Belly’ and 24-year-old Bryan Knight also known as ‘Blemmi’ - were charged with shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition and conspiracy.

Both men are from Burke Road and are known to the police, chief investigator and head of the Old Harbour Police CIB Detective Inspector Carl Morris told Old Harbour News.

Based on investigation so far the police were forced to act after 28-year-old Javion Brown, better known as ‘Di Alpha’, visited the station about 5:30 am to report that he was the target of an gun attacked by James and Knight.

Inspector Morris confirmed that there is a matter before the court involving James and Brown, with the former recently released from jail after the judge offered a bond. In that matter James is accused of robbing Brown.

At the scene of Tuesday’s shooting, scene of crime detectives retrieved eight spent shells and other evidentiary material as potential exhibits.

A court date is being finalized by the police.
