A well-known vendor was fatally shot this morning at his stall on South Street, sending shockwaves through the community.

The deceased has been identified as 49-year-old Orville Bloomfield, also known as ‘Blacks’ or ‘Marlon’ of Longville Park, Clarendon.

Reports indicate that around 5:50 a.m., Bloomfield, a vendor of several decades, was at his stall when he was ambushed by a lone gunman. He was later pronounced dead at the Spanish Town Hospital.

The shooting occurred just metres away from Old Harbour High School, forcing a temporary disruption to the institution’s operations. The incident also caused significant traffic delays along South Street as detectives processed the scene.

Authorities have yet to determine a motive for the killing but assured that all leads will be thoroughly investigated.

Bloomfield, a beloved figure in the area, had operated at the same location for years, earning widespread admiration and respect from customers and community members alike. His sudden death has left many in disbelief, with an outpouring of grief from those who knew him personally or as a trusted local entrepreneur.
