On Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the South St. Catherine Chamber of Commerce will host their second annual International Women’s Day Brunch at the Rooftop Lounge in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, under the theme ‘Give to Gain’.
The event, which costs $6,500 per ticket, is open to the public and tickets are currently available.
According to the chamber’s President, Treacha Reid, the event is designed to celebrate and honour women while fostering empowerment, motivation and community connection.
“It’s International Women’s Day and we want to celebrate our women right here in Old Harbour,” she said. “We have a lot of business owners within the chamber, and we came together and decided that this is one meaningful way to celebrate.”
Now in its second staging, the influential business group hopes to make the event an annual observance on the parish’s calendar.
A major highlight of this year’s event will be the recognition of four women from Old Harbour who have significantly volunteered their time and service to the community.
The president emphasized that volunteerism and servant leadership are at the heart of the event’s theme.
“As women and as servant leaders, we give of ourselves… because if you are not giving of yourself, then you are not servant leaders,” she explained. “Volunteerism means self-sacrifice. It means going above and beyond to serve not just our community, but our country.”
Expounding on the theme, she noted that giving brings its own reward.
“When I give of myself, it gives me self-satisfaction. It’s rewarding. It gives me pleasure to put a smile on someone’s face or to know that I would have made a difference in my community.”
Attendees can expect a modern, fun and engaging experience filled with entertainment, empowerment, giveaways and networking opportunities.
“We are all going through a lot, especially last year coming into this year” she said. “I would say to everyone, take yourself away from home, the children, the job, the work — and just come and mingle, network and build relationships.”
With celebration, reflection and inspiration at its core, Reid hopes the event will not only honour women, but also spark meaningful connections and renewed purpose within the community.
“Come and listen to women stories and hear how they overcame different challenges to get to where they are in life. You might hear one nugget that can change your life for ever,” she added.
The chamber’s inaugural International Women’s Day event was staged in 2024, with Custos of St Catherine Icylin Golding and businesswoman Monica Daley, the primary honourees, while District Constable Majorie Mullings-Jarrett and Inspector Yvonne Christie-Fraser were both recognised for 34 and 35 years respectively of service to the police force.
