NWC silent on Spring Village facility’s restoration timeline

And utility officials have yet to provide a timeline for when normal service will return.
The pump was decommissioned last Wednesday evening, triggering an urgent alert from the NWC. The disruption has severely affected the communities of Bushy Park, Spring Village, Island Farm, Nightingale Grove, Gutters, and other adjacent areas. The outage comes during the height of the dry season, a critical time for both households and small-scale farmers who rely on the supply for domestic use and irrigation.
In an update to Old Harbour News on Sunday, Delano Williams, director of corporate communications at the NWC, confirmed the situation remains unresolved.
“Pump is still out,” Williams stated flatly. He added that water trucking to customers “continues pending restoration.”
However, several residents who spoke with Old Harbour News contradicted the NWC’s claim, stating that they have yet to see or receive any service from a NWC water truck since the outage began four days ago.
The lack of a restoration timeline has compounded frustration in the affected areas. The NWC’s initial alert, dispatched at 9:59 p.m. on Wednesday, did not indicate how long repairs would take, and the utility company has not issued a subsequent estimate for when the mechanical issue will be resolved.
Williams reiterated that engineers are actively working on the mechanical problem at the Spring Village facility, but provided no further details on the nature of the fault or an expected completion date.
The NWC has urged residents to conserve any stored water they have. As of press time, no additional emergency measures beyond the disputed trucking service have been announced.
