Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has announced a continued, sweeping disruption to motor vehicle registration services, leaving customers unable to process transactions either online or in person across all island tax offices.

In a news release issued this afternoon, TAJ confirmed that the outage affects the platform used to process all motor vehicle registration-related services. As a result, Jamaicans are currently unable to complete renewals, new registrations, vehicle transfers, or purchase registration plates.

“Customers are currently unable to complete motor vehicle registration transactions in-office or online, that includes renewal or new motor vehicle registration, transfer of vehicles or purchase of registration plates,” the agency stated.

The disruption, which began unexpectedly, has paralyzed what is often a daily necessity for car dealers, used vehicle buyers, and ordinary citizens seeking to legalize their vehicles.

In an effort to ease public concern, TAJ moved quickly to reassure customers that two key services remain unaffected. Payments for Motor Vehicle Certificates of Fitness and payment of traffic tickets can still be completed conveniently through the TAJ eServices platform or in person at any tax office.

TAJ said its technical team and external service providers are actively engaged in resolving the issues and are “working assiduously to restore full functionality in the shortest possible time.”

The agency offered a sincere apology for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their “continued patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work to normalize services.”

Customers are encouraged to monitor TAJ’s official communication channels for updates. For more information, the public may contact the Customer Care Centre at (888) TAX-HELP (829-4357) or visit www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.
