The body discovered in a house in Longville Park, Clarendon on Monday is believed to be that of 30-year-old taxi driver Shevon Lawes, who had been reported missing days earlier.

Police investigators are now treating the case as a death investigation as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the grim discovery.

Residents of Pansy Crescent in Longville Park phase two alerted the authorities after a foul odour began emanating from a building in the neighbourhood. Upon forcing entry into the house around midday on Monday, March 9, 2026, lawmen made the gruesome find of a body lying on the ground in an advanced state of decomposition.

While formal identification is pending, sources have confirmed that the body is believed to be that of Lawes. Unconfirmed reports indicate that Lawes was reported missing by his mother at the Old Harbour Police Station on Saturday, March 7.

According to a missing person flyer circulated by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Lawes was last seen at home around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5. He is described as being of dark complexion with a medium build, standing about 170 centimeters (5 feet 6 inches) tall. At the time he went missing, his mode of dress was unknown.

Investigators have noted that it does not appear Lawes had any authority to be at the residence on Pansy Crescent where his body was ultimately found.

The police are continuing their inquiries and are appealing to anyone with information that can assist the investigation to contact the Old Harbour Police Station at 876-983-2255.
