Cops making headway in Davis murder – SSP Grey

SSP Leighton Grey, commander of the St Catherine South Police Division, confirmed to Old Harbour News that detectives are actively pursuing multiple lines of enquiry into the brazen killing, which remains the only outstanding homicide in the Old Harbour police subdivision which has recorded only five murders for this year so far.

“We are exploring different avenues to see what is what,” SSP Grey disclosed during an exclusive interview recently. “I know that there is some footage… and that investigators are making some headways in terms of the use of technology to treat with that aspect.”

While the senior commander did not divulge the specific nature of the footage, the revelation offers a glimmer of hope in a case that has been clouded by wild speculation.

Since Davis was gunned down at his stall on Panton Lane, social media has been rife with theories regarding the motive. However, the police have cautioned that the spread of disinformation is actively derailing the investigative process. A senior law enforcement source revealed that a widely circulated image, purporting to identify the killer, has been confirmed to be an artificial intelligence (AI) fabrication.

“The image looks very real,” the senior cop stated, expressing grave concern over the potential consequences. “But just imagine someone who looks similar to that in the image being circulated. This can trigger an act of vigilante justice which will only serve to muddy waters for our investigators.”

The police are urging citizens to allow the investigative process to take its course and to refrain from sharing unverified images or rumours.
