The Bannister resident, born March 11, 1922, was the toast of Friday’s celebration which began at the AME Methodist Church, Bannister, Old Harbour before ending with a reception inside the hall of the Church of God of Prophecy nearby.

Custos of St Catherine Icylin Golding was among those present sharing in the occasion along with other members of the justices of the peace corps, family members living in Jamaica and overseas, friends, and well-wishers.

Of the centenarian Custos Golding said “she is an outstanding citizen with a kind heart.”

Much to the amazement of many ‘Aunt D’ as she’s referred to most times, has no medical issues, reads without glasses and hears very well. She also loves to crack a few jokes, boasts a healthy laugh, sings a lot, and walks strong enough albeit with the aid of her walking stick.
